In the early days of the business, by necessity all manufacturing was outsourced. However, David Haythornthwaite, the company’s owner always had a vision to manufacture all products in house and in 2008 he moved the business to a purpose built, Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) regulated manufacturing facility in Lytham.
Our facility in Lytham, Lancashire gives us the flexibility to focus on manufacturing the products we need when we need them. This allows us to cope with peaks in demand quickly and efficiently to cater for the needs of our customers and the industry as a whole. And as an added benefit, our products haven’t spent weeks travelling from abroad by the time they get to you.
Our manufacturing facility is state of the art and GMP accredited (Good Manufacturing Practice). This means that the products we produce are:
- Of consistent high quality
- Appropriate to their intended use
- Meet the requirements of the marketing authorisation or product specification
Many of our overseas customers are small businesses and cannot buy in huge quantities to start with. We have the flexibility to swiftly produce both large and small shipments, with labelling and packaging to match the language and legalities of the region.
We now ship to thirty different countries and can turn round a language specific order in less than three weeks.
Focus On Quality
The key focus of VetPlus has always been the continued quality of our products. This poses many challenges in the nutraceutical industry, as ingredients and suppliers vary in quality. That’s why all of the raw materials coming into our warehouse are carefully tested before use to ensure they meet our high standards. This gives us complete control over the quality of our products.
We’ve gone to great lengths to source the best possible ingredients, for example the company we source our Dexahan from is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council which sets a standard for sustainable fishing. Krill is a key ingredient in Synoquin EFA, where it provides the omega 3 fatty acids. Most people think of fish as providing omega 3, however we picked krill for our product as it has a different molecular structure, meaning it is more easily absorbed and therefore more efficient.
We pride ourselves in having industry leading quality standards to ensure our products are of the best possible quality. VetPlus holds Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) licences for manufacture, and assembly of Medicinal Products (ManA) and Specials (ManSA) for Veterinary use.
Warehouse and Distribution
Our modern, purpose-built GDP accredited (Good Distribution Practice) warehouse provides more than enough storage for our UK and global distribution channels.
Our products are distributed throughout the UK and the rest of the world as we strive to deliver in full, on time, every time, to meet our customers’ needs.
Since its inception over 20 years ago, VetPlus has been the clear leader in its field and is well on the way to fulfilling David’s original aim of being a global leader in veterinary nutraceuticals. Our continued focus on the quality of our ingredients, research and high quality products will continue to propel us towards further successes.
